Who We Are

Who are we?

We’re  broke, nerdy, fabulous young women from the Philadelphia/ New York City area.

Laura (Laur2d2) is the head writer and editor.  She has appeared on panels from Social Justice in Comic Books (Wizard World Philadelphia and Wait, Samus is a Girl: A Brief History of Women in Gaming (Too Many Games Expo 2016) An experienced improvisational comic, she also appeared on the Improv Comedy show at 2014’s Zenkaikon alongside Uncle Yo, +2 Comedy, and Doug Walker, the Nostalgia Critic. This summer, Laura led a group of the area’s sharpest and savviest at the Improvisational Comedy Show for the second year running at Too Many Games Expo 2016, which included These Guy Are Sick’s Darrin DeMarco and Brett Vanderbook, and the above listed performers from Zenkaikon. As an occasional stand-up comic, Laura has appeared throughout South Jersey, at Parx Casino, and Helium Philadelphia.  Laura also appears as Princess Peach, Ring Announcer and General Manager of Cosplay Pro Wrestling.

Jess (JediJess) is the artist and designer.  A graphic designer by trade, Jess has worked on advertising and social media campaigns for Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, Mamma Mia!, and the Roundabout Theater Company.  In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, rock climbing, and sending increasingly weird YTMND links to her friends and family.

After meeting at a temp job that turned out to be not remotely shady in the least, the pair joined forces in 2010 to start Pretty Nerdy Things as a WordPress blog.  After a brief stint on Tumblr, we had a re-branding and a renaissance, and now we’re back and better than ever.  And actually updating.
